Hi Beau,
Johanni's are fairly easy to breed. We even get them to breed in the shop on a regular occassion without doing anything in particular.
One thing i do suggest though,
plenty of water changes as in 80% weekly
pH of around 7.6
high hardness
good quality fish foods such as tetra color granules
plenty of territorial space. i use pvc pipes cut into various lengths, some with end caps, some without. works like a dream.
I also suggest going to the Aquarium Society of Victoria. They meet once a month in Clifton Hill. The last Thursday of the month. They have plenty of extra advice from some very experienced fish keepers, and there is always some presenter of note talking about a fish topic every month.
good luck!
Steve
